As the launch date of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 approaches, new details about the device are also coming to light. The brand will continue its flagship foldable phone concept with the upcoming device. While the specifications of the model have not been confirmed yet, recent leaks reveal the processor that will power the Galaxy Z Flip 7.
Galaxy Z Flip 7 could be powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite processor in the global market
Samsung’s flagships are usually launched with different processors depending on the region. This is one of the most curious topics before the introduction of a new flagship smartphone, and the Z Flip 7 is no exception.
Samsung’s strategy for its flagship devices has been criticized due to the performance differences between Exynos and Qualcomm chips. Many reports shared in the past have revealed significant performance differences between versions of the same device that come with different chipsets.
Previous reports suggested that the foldable smartphone will be powered by Samsung’s homegrown Exynos 2500 processor in India, South Korea, and many other countries. This meant that the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset would not be available in most regions.
However, recent leaks have turned this upside down. According to sources, Samsung will be using the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor in the Z Flip 7 in all regions except South Korea. In its home country of South Korea, the company will be launching the device with the Exynos 2500 processor.
Samsung had previously introduced One UI 7 with the Galaxy S25, One UI 6 with the S23, and One UI 5 with the S22 series. In short, the company usually ships Android updates with its Galaxy S series flagship phones. However, this year, it is taking a different path and shifting its focus to foldable devices for the first time.
Samsung is expected to introduce the Android 16-based One UI 8 update with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7. The company is scheduled to launch these devices at the Galaxy Unpacked event in early July.
